Sunday 06 of July in Portland Oregon, USA, the 9th IALE World Congress will begin. The 2015 World Congress is a joint meeting between the International Association of Landscape Ecology World Congress (WC) and the U.S. chapter of IALE (US-IALE), and will be held at the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower in Portland, Oregon, July 5 - 10, 2015. The theme is: Crossing Scales, Crossing Borders: Global Approaches to Complex Challenges. The meeting will bring together nearly 1,000 leaders in landscape ecology from around the globe, including educators and practitioners in the fields of geology, ecology, biology, geography, and landscape preservation and design, dedicated to preserving and protecting our natural resources.

At this important ecological event we will have an interesting session: The Landscape’s Metabolism: Interweaving the Landscape Ecology, Urban Studies and Industrial Ecology to Understanding Landscape Tissues in an Urban World (S13). The objective of this discussion session is to bring together different disciplinary approaches to better understand the growing role of technological elements as driving forces changing landscape structure, pattern and processes. We will bring together different disciplines, to outline a techno-metabolic approach, aiming a better understanding of current disciplinary as well as conceptual, methodological and operational challenges in an urban world.
